Checking my flight

I went to Beijing, China, on Friday 13th, 2010 by Japan Airline. It's two days before starting STeLA Leadership Forum 2010. I think it's my first time traveling alone in the country that I can't speak their language.

DONGDAN

After putting my luggage, I walked to The Mall, near Dongdan Station to find something to eat as my dinner.

Because I saw the Certificate that Sergeant Chicken Rice if TimeOut Hong Kong's one of the 50 dishes you must eat in 2008, so I tried it. In my opinion, the difference between Thai Chicken Rice and Singaporean Hainan Chicken Rice maybe the various sauces they use.

Then, again, after seeing the ads said that THE BEST Curry Puff in Singapore, so I also tried a Tip Top Curry Puff's chicken curry puff.

TIAN AN MEN SQUARE

Next, I bought McFloat from McDonald's and walked to Tian An Men Square (天安门广场) waiting to see the soldiers moving the flag down in the evening.

I just walked around the street.. visited Shanghai Expo Shop, book store, and some interesting shops. Then, I went back to take a rest at hotel.

QUAN JU DE - PEKING DUCK

After that I took subway back to Wang Fu Jing Station and walk around to find the famous Peking Duck restaurant. It's Quan Ju De Roast Duck Restaurant (), Wang Fu Jing branch. I ordered 1 Peking Duck, 1 set of Pancake, 2 set of sources, and Jasmin Tea. The cook brought the duck to cut near my table. Before start eating, the staff gave me the Duck Certificate. My duck ID is 1558901. And as I expected, I cannot finish one whole duck alone, so I asked them to pack it for me to take back. I came back to hotel to keep the duck.

I took subway to Zoological Garden Station (动物园). In fact, I didn't go to the zoo, but I went to the shopping mall near the zoo according to Muay and Sung suggested. They sell the local Chinese brand clothes with cheap price, but need to bargain.

XIDAN

After that, I came back to hotel again to keep my stuffs, and went to Xidan Station (西). Xidan is a commercial area like Siam Square in Thailand or Shibuya in Japan. I walked around to see the Chinese Brand shops.

Xidan

And I selected to have dinner at Sizzler (时时乐). I ordered Chicken set with 39 RMB but after including the coke, it's around 50 RMB. I'm glad that there's Tom Yum soup in Salad corner there. The service and standard is quite similar to Sizzler in Thailand.

It's the day I had to check out hotel and move to Peking University. After checking out, I took subway to Line 8's Olympic Sports Centre (奥体中心体育场). It was used to host the Beijing Olympic 2008 and Paralympics. The Beijing National Stadium (国家体育场) or Bird's nest (鸟巢) is very beautiful architecture. Moreover, the Beijing National Aquatics Center (北京国家游泳中心) or Water Cube also looks very cool with the cuboid shape.
